It is the material of steel itself; its amenability to being cut, pieced together and taken apart again, that begets the abstractions in Bacons vision of place. From one sculpture to another there is a feeling that the parts have only just come to rest after a long process of experimentation and elimination, culminating in an aesthetic revelation. This sensation of discovery , so elusive, of seeing the world as if for the first time, is what Bacons sculptures commemorate. – Joe Frost 2018
